In December of 2023 we went out to dinner at Nobu before holidays with our families. We got there right when they opened, coffees in hand, the hosts said they were available right away and escorted us to a table. Right before dessert, Ivan left for the restroom and his coat was thrown on the chair, so Jenna went to pick it up and place it nicely over the chair. As she picks it up and places it on the chair, it dawns on her that it could be The Night. She picks up the jacket again and “smooths it out” . Feeling nothing she places it back on the chair and doesn’t think about it again.

Dinner was so early we wanted to keep enjoying the night after it, Ivan suggested a nice walk on the beach. On the way to the beach Jenna was enjoying all the Holiday lights and just being in the fun date night moment. We got to Crystal Cove, Newport Beach and walked over to the overlook. Under the bright moon enjoying the sounds of the ocean Ivan called for Jenna a couple of times (because she was enjoying the view). She looked over and he was on one knee. He was nervous, she was freaking and in the end she said YES! As he was placing the ring on, she told him, wrong hand! Trying to take it off it falls to the ground and everyone holds their breath and gasps. Feww, it did not fall through the wooden boards. He picks it up and places it on the correct hand. As they walk back to the car she stops and says, “wait did I tell you yes?”
